“My philosophy is one of INCLUSIVITY. I believe that we all come to health via different paths and that health looks different for each one of us. In my work I see people from diverse backgrounds; people affected by varying levels of stigma and oppression, be that due to their race, body size, sexual orientation, income etc. I recognise that stigma and other social determinants impact as much on health as individual diet and lifestyle choices. My goal is to help my clients accept the things we do not have control over, while highlighting and making the most of each person’s individual strengths and abilities.“
Casey’s passion is helping people to free themselves from body dissatisfaction, disordered eating, and weight preoccupation. She also loves working with pregnant women, new mums and their bubs, and specialises in fertility, prenatal and postnatal yoga and nutrition. She believes that we can learn a great deal about how to best care for ourselves from observing nature’s cycles, from ancient traditions, and from listening to the deep wisdom of our bodies.
In her work she draws upon her parallel life as a yoga teacher of 10+ years; her childhood growing up exploring forests, picking bush foods, watching her Chinese-Malay mum incorporate Traditional Chinese Medicine into everyday cooking and life, and exploring remote corners of Australian wilderness with her meditation-addicted dad; her past life as a veterinarian and environmental researcher; and her lived experience with and full recovery from disordered eating.
Casey’s treatment draws upon additional studies in Acceptance and Commitment Therapy, yoga psychology, the Non‐Diet Approach, Motivational Interviewing and Art Therapy. She is currently completing a naturopathy degree and has postgraduate training in herbal, functional and holistic medicine. Casey loves to integrate the effective treatment of eating disorders and weight concern with evidence-based natural medicine, counselling and mind-body modalities such as yoga and meditation.
In her spare time Casey loves to write – she is a feature columnist for Living Now magazine and an avid blogger. She enjoys painting, camping, herbal medicine, 80’s glam metal, prop-heavy yoga, travel, and exploring forest trails with her husband and two young children.
