My career in the health industry began as a Remedial Massage Therapist. Studying Health Science opened my eyes to combining eastern and western philosophies in a holistic style of treatment – looking at the body as a whole and treating not only soft tissue but creating awareness of lifestyle and nutrition.
I believe that optimal health is achieved through physical activity, a balanced diet and lifestyle modifications. This belief combined with a love of the outdoors and sport was the drive behind my continued education studying Exercise Science and then completing my mat and equipment pilates qualification.
I have over 10 years’ experience working within multidisciplinary Physiotherapy Practices and have traveled with various elite sporting associations, teams, and individuals. Working alongside other professionals in these environments has increased my knowledge and experience in the areas of biomechanical and clinical assessment, manual treatments and exercise prescription.
I am a strong believer in cross referral and making sure my clients are matched with the treatments they need. This is one of the many reasons why I love working at The Living Well Studio. As a multimodal clinic specialising in Eastern and Western therapies we have the unique opportunity to keep clients care under the one roof.
My special interests in Remedial Massage and Pilates are Women’s health – pre and post-partum (we now run a mums and bubs pilates class), working with athletes during regular training and pre and post event management, chronic disease, and mental health. I adopt many different manual therapies in Remedial Massage treatments including Dry Needling, cupping, trigger point therapy, myofascial release, positional release, reflexology, breath work, heat therapy, deep tissue massage and lymphatic drainage.
Leesa has now added more hours on Wednesday evening and Saturday.
