April COVID-19 Update

We have made some changes to the way we offer appointments.

April 1st 2020

Dear Living Well Family,

We want to start by saying that we are so proud of the adaptability of our community in response to COVID-19 and it is with heavy hearts alongside a feeling of deep responsibility that we have to make some large changes to the operations of TLWS. Given this, the following changes are effective immediately.

Group Physiotherapy sessions in our studio will finish up as of the 1st of April. Although these services have been allowed to operate as per The Australian Government’s guidelines for essential health care, as a business that is part of the wider community we feel it is best to cease our group classes to ensure we minimise viral spread. We have not made this decision lightly and hope to resume group sessions in the near future as we believe this service brings huge benefits to many people in our TLWS community. We will let you know ASAP when this changes.

When making bookings you can book online but also pay online prior to your session to limit your interaction with staff other than your practitioner.  We have set slightly limited hours for appointments. If you want an appointment outside this time please call the studio.

When you arrive at the studio please wait in the car until your appointment time then move straight to the sink to wash your hands and dry with our individual hand towels that go straight into a wash bin provided. Our waiting room will be a place to pass through rather than stay for long.

Each physiotherapist is in a unique situation and has to weigh up risks of working 1:1 with individuals. Some of our clinicians have decided to only run exercise-based or digital health or home visit sessions while some are still treating in rooms and others have decided to take leave through this time.

We cannot stress how much we respect each clinician’s individual decision on this. Physiotherapy is part of an important allied health service that maintains the health and wellbeing of our community and there is a reason why the government has not ceased these services completely. Some of our clinicians have family connections to people that are high risk for poor prognosis with COVID-19  and need to take necessary precautions to protect them.

If you have been coming for group physiotherapy sessions there is an option to come in for a 1:1 session instead. This is charged at a lower than usual rate for a 1:1.

The individual in room physiotherapy will still be offered in our clinic with some practitioners.

Digital Physiotherapy will be available to all our clients. This process will allow you to access online physiotherapy services with our practitioners through either your computer, tablet, iPad or smartphone. Sessions are bulk billed if you have a medicare plan and also claimable from the 14th of April through some private health funds (check your individual fund). You will pay online and then use your receipt to claim with your fund.

We can offer advice and education, virtual assessment as well as exercise interventions all online. While we know it seems odd when you are used to being in the studio, digital health has been shown to be really effective and we are excited to implement it as an ultimately safe way of offering physio services.

We are now also offering home visits to people who match the necessary criteria. Please talk to our staff if a physiotherapy home visit is something that you need due to limitations with transport and necessary social distancing.

Our Physiotherapists and Pilates Instructors are able to create a personal exercise program for you through digital health or face to face consults.

Chiropractic sessions will remain as normal with strict hygiene protocols maintained for both clients and practitioners. These sessions will not be available as online digital sessions and only in the clinic at this stage.

Nutrition services are still available both online and in the studio and bookings remain as per normal.

Unfortunately at this stage, we are no longer able to provide massage services due to the latest restrictions set out by the Queensland Government. We will update you when these restrictions have been lifted and massage is once more available.

Psychology services will now run online through digital media. The studio is taking bookings as per normal for this service however psychologist Louise Pennant will contact you with regards to the running of your online session.

Thank you again for your continued support

Please contact us if you have questions. We know it’s a challenging time and we wish to protect your health and future.
